My first gadget shop: ChinaBuye

Some days ago I remembered friends telling me about different Chinese online shops that sell cool but still inexpensive gadgets. I had a look a round and found a great shop not only for gadgets but also for smaller items, especially interesting for a geocacher like me. It took me some days to decide on what to buy after some time I finally did it: my first order was already submitted and is currently being processed! Where you ask? Well ChinaBuye of course.
ChinaBuye is a great shop located in, the name already tells you, China. It offers way too much great gadgets and tools – you should interpret “way too much” as negative only because I don’t have time to go through all the products one-by-one ;)

Twitter for Windows 8

It took them some time but twitter finally released their Modern UI app for Windows 8. My first impressions are why good, because as you can see in the screenshots below, the user interface looks pretty nice. They didn't just create an app but incorporated the Modern UI look & feel, so you feel right at home.
The main features are of course
  • Home, which is your twitter feed,
  • Connect, which shows your mentions, retweeted and favorited tweets,
  • Discover, which helps you discover trending and interesting topics and of course
  • Me, which is all about you, including your direct messages, statistics and photos.

One device I was especially excited about was a next generation PixelSense touch table by Samsung (I hope I did get the name right). It's nothing new for me – I have already used the original PixelSense at university (back in the days called Surface ;) – but this new version is so much better, especially because is so slim. It doesn't use a camera anymore but has some hundreds of optical sensors and infrared sensors – still quite expensive though :(
